Who was walking in Mission Bay Park for the Club 33 Walk on Saturday, May 23? A good event starts with good organization and Leane Marchese, Joyce Glazer and Jim Hughes provided that. Jim set up the tables to hold the prizes, drinks, snacks and registration materials. Joyce brought Olga and Mark, baristas from the Horton Plaza Starbucks Coffeehouse, and they brought the coffee and condiments. Leane added leadership and water, snacks and prizes to the mix and we were ready to start.
Joyce also arranged for Jason Cull, her trainer at Optimum Functional Fitness, to attend and lead us through some pre-walk stretches so we didn’t injure our highly-toned athletic physiques. President Stan Hartman and his grandson, Jackson, led the charge to start the walk after the calisthenics were over. There were socks and shoes flying out of the stroller all the way down the path.
Andy Hewitt buzzed the group early during the walk but he was traveling at too fast a pace for us to keep up. Jay Arnett, Al Harutunian and family, Woody Ledford and Carole, Jennifer Perkins plus sister Jamie and dog Harley, Budd Rubin, Jill Spitzer and guest Debbie, Dick Troncone, Geri Warnke and husband Joe, Greg Zinser, Steve Bond and son, Jim Groen, Steve Treadgold, Darren Cecil and family, the Hughes family, Joyce, Leane and Lisa Culver and I enjoyed an hour of walking and talking.
During the cool down, prizes were presented and the rest of the food and beverages were consumed. Be sure to join us for the next Club 33 Walk when it is President Dick’s term.
