Club 33 | Committees

Doing the work of Rotary begins in your committees

Furthering the work of Rotary in your community, your region or internationally happens in our committees. You have an enormous opportunity as a volunteer in Club 33 to become involved and active. It’s personally rewarding and great fun!

We have many levels of time commitments as well as different kinds of service to the club and community. We encourage you to join at least 2 committees and see what works best for you. Committee work is where you really get to know fellow Rotarians and share the fellowship that ties us all together.

With the information on our many committees in Club 33 shown at the right, you will be able to review each synopsis and see which ones are a fit for your personal interests. To become part of a committee, simply contact the chair via the email link to answer any questions you may have. Being part of a committee is the best way to get to know members, enjoy personal rewards and contribute to the success of Rotary.

Latest News: Rotary golfers have a boo-tiful day November 6th at San Diego Country Club

Our Rotary golfers arrived to find bright black and orange goodie bags filled with snacks both healthy and not so healthy (former Halloween candy) greeting them on their seats. After warm-ups the first group took the tee at 10 am to begin the initial round of competition for the “coveted Jack Thompson Memorial Trophy”. We had 16 players on a cool, somewhat cloudy day, but everyone was anxious to hit the links (smiles always abound before the rounds).

Four hours later we gathered (some more quickly than others) at the 19th hole to swap stories of what might have been and the realities of what was. Emerging as our first round leader is our favorite podiatrist, Dick Green (73) who pointed out to everyone his newly found status (no-one was paying attention to his new found fortune), with Bob Jacobs (74) and Marten Barry (76) nipping at his heals.

The stats:
Low gross men: 1. Tom Wilson 2. Dick Green 3. Bob Kelly
Low net men: 1. Dick Green 2. Bob Jacobs 3. Marten Barry
Low gross and net women: Bonnie Schwartz
Team low gross: Marten Barry, Tom Gable, Tom Wilson, Jim Reynolds
Team low net: Bob Jacobs, Buddy Thomas, John Anewalt, Mark Marshall
Closest to the pins/par 3’s: Bonnie Schwartz, Bob Kelly, John Anewalt, Mark Marshall
Long drive men: Bob Kelly
The all important Putt-Meister contest: Least number: Clem Schwartz (28), second up, Marten Barry (29)

In spite of the golf we all had a great time! Thanks to everyone who participated!
Second round will be February/March 2010. We’ll set the date early so we can let you know and have a full field.

Current Goals: To provide a fun venue for Rotary fellowship.

Activities/responsibilities: We now have three opportunities to play for the coveted Jack Thompson Memorial Trophy. October and March at San Diego Country Club. La Jolla Country Club in June with a 1:00 start time. Best 2 net scores win the trophy.

Why join: We have a great time! And you get to meet new Rotarians.
